| Do328: OPINICUS provided
hardware and software updates to the Portland Do328 simulator to
achieve FAA Level C Qualification
(AC120-40B). This update included: program management;
aircraft systems software modification; cockpit configuration changes;
control loading modification;
development of the aerodynamic, flight controls, and engines models
from raw flight test date; update of the Integrated Avionics
Computers (IAC) and all modifications required to support the
installation and integration of the new IAC units; modification of
circuit breaker panels to reflect the DO328 Mod10 and all necessary
modifications required to support the new circuit breakers; provided
the FAA Approval Test Guide (ATG)
documents; on-site support during the FAA evaluation. CH-53, CH-53D, CH-46E: Trainer Support includes: control loading, flight controls, stability augmentation, flight dynamics, rotor dynamics, engines, transmission, handling qualities improvement, aircraft systems, through government test and evaluation. Reconfigurable Simulator: Complete portable reconfigurable engineering simulator. We designed and assembled the cockpit, base frame, and controls linkages. The simulator has a Level D capable control loading system, fully textured visual system, operator/instructor station, aural cue, and reconfigurable instrument displays. E6A: We have successfully completed several contracts to upgrade and modify the Navy E6A OFT's located at Tinker AFB. These contracts included Flight Quality Improvement Program (FQIP), Orbit Improvement Modification, Automatic Fidelity Testing (AFT) Modification. (Automatic Fidelity Testing is a system designed by OPINICUS to compare simulator performance to the E6A flight test data used to develop the simulator aerodynamic software. The AFT program automatically trims and flies a test profile identical to the flight test data associated with each test. After the test is completed the AFT program furnishes a hard copy of the test results. The operator can compare the results to the baseline and determine if any deficiencies have developed due to age, wear, or modifications.) Other contracts include the hardware and software control loading upgrades, aerodynamic update and Certification of the E6A OFT to commercial standards (FAA Level C: AC-120-40A). In addition, we have developed and taught several hardware and software training courses for both the engineering and maintenance personnel. This E6A program is
currently being used by the Navy to see how
suitable commercial certification standards are to the Navy simulators
and training.
